Accountable for performing highly independent utilization management activities that provide functions of administering our employee health programs and for providing clinical employee health services at Mercyhealth. This position works in direct collaboration with the Human Resource department as well as Occupational Medicine, Infection Prevention and Safety and Security. Assist with EH programs such as annual fit testing, tuberculosis (TB) screening, light duty, and workers compensation. May be required to work flexible hours and overtime during peak periods. Other duties as assigned.


Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Promotes mission, vision and values of Mercyhealth
  • Ensures skills remain up-to-date with new developments, best practices and standards of care in the healthcare field.
  • Ensures standard methods of care are used, utilizing evidence based practice and best practice standards.
  • Reviews employee health work and administers vaccinations/injections, i.e. TB, Hep B, MMR, Flu, etc.; interprets vaccine requirements and administers blood pressures.
  • Coordinates with other departments in Mercyhealth for missing and incomplete employee health compliance for all partners; which includes but not limited to immunization compliance, annual medical surveillances, and exposures to ensure the best services to Mercyhealth partners and help them meet compliance requirements.
  • Administers the Mercyhealth fit testing program and ensures that all Mercyhealth partners have adequate protection and are fitted with an appropriate mask that meet Mercyhealth policies.
  • Follows and directs employee health policies. Collaborates with human resources to develop policies and procedures within Mercyhealth.
  • Assists with case management programs such as light duty, fitness for duty, reasonable accommodations and workers compensation.
  • Supports administration with employee health databases, maintains complete and accurate employee health records.
  • Ensures compliance with state and federal requirements and clinical responsibilities.
  • Serves on various committees as appropriate, such as the Safety Committee, Low Lift Committee, Workplace Violence Prevention, etc. and acts as a partner advocate.
  • Assists in coordinating the development and implementation of employee health initiatives and programs.

Education and Experience

BSN preferred or enrollment in an accredited BSN program.
Two years of acute care, general medical/surgical experience or previous experience in employee or occupational health.


Certification and Licensure

Registered Nurse in Wisconsin and Illinois
Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) preferred
Certified Case Manager (CCM) preferred


Skills and Abilities
Must have the ability to work collaboratively with partners, multidisciplinary health care providers and insurer and possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and handle difficult situations in a professional manner. Detail oriented and capable of exploring innovative solutions to solve complex problems and address issues through the use of a combination of delivered and custom-developed tools. Ability to us Microsoft Office software including email, Word and Excel. Ability to compile, code and categorize or verify information/data. Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and to prioritize scheduling of work.

The Special Physical Demands are considered Essential Job Functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
This position falls under the strength level of Light work. Meaning the partner must lift and/or carry up to 10 pounds frequently. Lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds Occasionally. Lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds seldomly. While performing the duties of this job, the partner is constantly required to communicate verbally, hearing requirements, and keyboarding. The partner is Frequently required to sitting. The partner is occasionally required to alternate sit/stand or walk at will, fine manipulation, gross manipulation, lifting/carrying, near visual acuity, pushing/pulling, and standing/walking.
